Garena has officially announced a new collaboration between Free Fire Max and Maddock Films for the upcoming horror-comedy Thamma. The tie-in marks part of Free Fire Max’s festive Diwali campaign and brings film-inspired elements to the popular mobile battle royale game.

A short teaser shared by Garena showcases a new Thamma-themed in-game character, possibly modeled after Ayushmann Khurrana’s role in the film. The crossover is expected to feature unique character abilities and themed cosmetics inspired by the movie’s supernatural setting.

Produced by Maddock Films — the studio behind Stree, Bhediya, Munja, and Stree 2 — Thamma continues the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The movie stars Ayushmann Khurrana as a journalist who transforms into a vampire-like creature named Betal, uncovering an ancient legend in the process. The cast also includes Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Faisal Malik. Thamma is set to release on October 21, 2025, in Hindi and Telugu.

As part of the collaboration, Free Fire Max’s Diwali update adds festive elements such as diyas and rangolis to the user interface, along with limited-time changes to the Bermuda map — including a new “Dark Zone.”

Additionally, Garena released a new animated Diwali music video titled “Tu Subah Hai”, highlighting an emotional story set against the festival’s lights and celebrations.
